Rental Terms
Please read the rental terms carefully.
reservations
All reservations are reviewed, and you will receive a confirmation email provided that the driver’s information meets the rental requirements and the vehicle is available. All reservations are made by category and not by specific model. In the event that a confirmed reservation is unavailable, Grekostar reserves the right to provide the customer with a vehicle of a higher category at no additional cost to the customer.
Payment Method
The rental deposit is paid into the company’s corporate bank account. The balance is paid upon pickup of the vehicle and can be paid in cash or by credit/debit card.
Driver Age Limits
The driver must be at least 23 years old and have held a driver’s license for at least two (2) years. Rentals are available to drivers aged 21 and older with additional insurance. 8,00€ per day.
The maximum age for the driver is 75. The rental can be extended to age 80 with additional insurance. 8,00€ per day.
The company reserves the right to refuse or cancel the rental if the driver does not meet the above criteria.
Identity Verification and Driver's License Verification
The renter must present a valid driver’s license upon picking up the vehicle. Driving licenses issued by countries in the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom (UK), Russia (RUS), and other European countries are accepted.
If the driver’s license was issued by another country, the driver must hold an international driver’s license, which must be accompanied by the driver’s license issued by the country of origin.
In addition, the renter is required to present a valid ID or passport when picking up the vehicle. If the required documents or copies are not presented, the company is not obligated to complete the rental, and any payments made will not be refunded.
Countries whose licenses are accepted
Licenses issued in the following countries are accepted:
- Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Denmark, Greece, Estonia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Czech Republic, Finland, Croatia
- United States of America, Canada*, Australia, Gibraltar, Switzerland, Serbia, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Israel, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates
*If the Canadian driver’s license is in French, an official government-issued translation into English or Greek, certified by the competent authority, is required.
For all other countries, renting a car requires an international driver’s license, which must be accompanied by the driver’s national driver’s license.
Geolocation Application Data
The company may collect and use geolocation (GPS) data from the user’s app or device solely for the purposes of operating the rental service and managing the vehicles.
This data is used for:
- Tracking the vehicle's location during the rental period.
- The provision of vehicle support and safety services.

Data is collected and processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws. The user/tenant consents to the collection and use of geolocation data while using the service.
The company does not share this data with third parties without the user’s express consent, unless required by law or to fulfill contractual obligations.
Rental Period and Minimum Charge
The minimum rental period is 1 day.
If the renter wishes to keep the rental vehicle for longer than the agreed-upon period, they must contact the company to have the rental extension noted in the Rental Agreement, along with the corresponding charge.
Grekostar reserves the right to refuse to extend the rental period.
If the renter returns the vehicle after the agreed-upon time period, they will be charged an additional fee.
Fuel Policy
The renter must return the car with the same amount of fuel as when it was picked up. If the car is returned with less fuel, the renter will be charged for the difference. No refund will be given if the car is returned with more fuel than was received.
Kilometers
Prices include unlimited mileage.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is prohibited in all company vehicles. Any violation will result in a charge of at least 200€, για την κάλυψη των εξόδων καθαρισμού και πιθανών ζημιών.
Delivery & Pickup Outside Business Hours
Pickup or delivery outside of business hours (10:00 PM – 8:00 AM) is subject to an additional charge 20,00€ /pickup or drop off.
Citations – Fines – Administrative Penalties
The renter is solely responsible for any fines or administrative penalties resulting from a violation of the Highway Code (KOK) during the rental period. Fines and damages are not covered by insurance.
If the fine is not paid directly by the tenant, the company charges a processing fee 20% regarding the amount of the fine.
If it is necessary to remove license plates or load the vehicle using a crane, the company can handle the process for a fee 100€ (This amount does not include the fine, the use of a tow truck, or vehicle storage.)
Cancellations, Changes, and Early Returns
If you cancel your rental 48 hours before it begins, 50% of the total amount will be charged.
Cancellations, changes, or early returns during the rental period are possible only upon consultation with the office and subject to availability. In such cases, no refunds will be issued.
You can contact us by phone or email, depending on availability. If we are unable to reach you, the vehicle must be returned to our main office or to an agreed-upon return location on the agreed-upon date and time—otherwise, additional charges will apply.
Vehicle Replacement
In the event of a breakdown or accident, a replacement vehicle will be arranged within 24 hours. During the high season (approximately from early May to early September), the company reserves the right to set a maximum replacement time of up to 48 hours, depending on availability.
Failure to Pick Up Vehicle
If you are unable to pick up the vehicle at the scheduled time, please let us know in advance. Otherwise, your reservation will be canceled 2 hours after your flight lands.
No refund or credit will be issued for a reservation that is canceled due to failure to pick up the vehicle or lack of a valid driver’s license
Flight Delays and Arrival
he company uses a flight tracking system (Flightradar) and can determine your exact landing time. In case of a delay, we will wait for you at no extra charge, unless your arrival is after 10:00 PM—in which case the after-hours fee applies.
Vehicle Transport by Ship and Outside Greece
Transporting the vehicle by ship is permitted only after consulting with the company.
It is strictly prohibited to take the vehicle outside Greece, regardless of whether Greece is part of the Schengen Area. In the event of a violation, a one-time fee will be charged.300€ and the vehicle is not covered by any insurance. The renter is fully liable for any damage or loss that may occur.
Animals and Pets
Animals and pets may only be transported in special carriers (cages). Failure to comply with this requirement will result in a sanitation fee of 150€.
Vehicle Cleaning
The vehicle is delivered to the renter clean, both inside and out. Upon return, the exterior must be in a condition that allows for an inspection for any damage—otherwise, a cleaning fee will be charged. 20€.
For the interior, in the event of serious stains or damage that cannot be removed by simple cleaning, a fee for professional cleaning will be charged 150€.
Please note that no insurance coverage applies to damage or wear and tear inside the vehicle.
Accident or Damage
In the event of damage or an accident, the driver/renter is required to:
- Contact the company immediately so that a representative from the claims department (insurance company) can be present.
- Call the Traffic Police (100) immediately so that the incident can be officially recorded and an accident report issued.
- Obtain and submit to the company the police report, as well as any other relevant documents requested.
In the event of failure to comply with the above obligations, the tenant assumes full and exclusive liability for any damage or consequences that may arise. Furthermore, any coverage or insurance that has been agreed upon or provided shall cease to be valid.
Insurance Coverage
1. Basic Coverage
Basic coverage provides the minimum level of protection and covers:
- Civil Liability Insurance.
- Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) — limits the renter’s liability to a specified deductible amount.
- Exclusions: Damage to tires, rims, windows, and the underside of the vehicle, or damage caused by negligence, is not covered.
The liability amounts are:
- €700 for the A and B Class categories
- €800 for the C Class category
- €900 for the D, E, and F classes
- €1,100 for the X and M Class categories
- €1,200 for the V Class category
- Special terms apply on a case-by-case basis for the L Class category.
All prices are final and include VAT.
2. Partial Coverage
Partial (basic) coverage reduces the deductible and provides additional benefits, such as:
- Liability Insurance.
- Limited liability.
- Coverage for damage to tires, rims, and windows.
- 24/7 Roadside Assistance Coverage.
The liability amounts are:
- €490 for Class A and Class B
- €560 for the C Class
- €630 for the D, E, and F classes
- €770 for the X and M Class categories
- €840 for the V Class category
- Special terms apply to the L Class on a case-by-case basis.
All prices are final and include VAT.
3. Full Coverage
Comprehensive coverage provides maximum protection, including:
- Liability Insurance.
- Full liability waiver — no deductible in the event of damage or theft.
- Covering the underside of the vehicle.
- 24/7 Roadside Assistance Coverage.
- Personal Accident Coverage (medical expenses & compensation).
- Vehicle replacement in the event of a breakdown.
ATTENTION. None of the above 3 categories covers:
- Damages resulting from violations of the Highway Code.
- Damage caused by reckless driving.
- Damages when the driver was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Damage caused by an unlicensed driver.
- Damage to the interior of the vehicle.
- Loss, damage, or theft of keys.
- Loss of or damage to child seats, a jack, a warning triangle, a spare tire, or a fuel cap.
- Engine damage caused by using the wrong fuel or negligence.
- Damage caused by driving on unsuitable roads or off-road.
- Damage occurring after the agreed return time.
- Damage caused intentionally or through negligence (e.g., burnt clutch plates/tires, damage to the hood/roof, etc.).
- Damage resulting from an accident if the company and the police were not notified at the time.
- Damage caused in the course of committing criminal acts.
Damage Charges
Charges for any damages are determined based on:
- The vehicle category (the amount of the charge and the exemption varies accordingly).
- The booking channel:
- For reservations made directly through the company, the fees and exemptions set by the company apply, as disclosed at the time the contract is signed.
- For bookings made through third parties (travel agencies, platforms), the terms and conditions of the specific agreement apply, which may differ.
Upon pickup, the customer is provided with detailed information by the employee regarding the damage charges and deductible amounts applicable to their specific reservation. These charges are an integral part of the rental agreement.
